Trends come and go. What’s cool for parents, may be lame for their children. And when those children grow up, their kids will think they are lame too.
Here’s eight things about the younger generation that older people don’t understand.
1. “I really hate the Tiktok Voice.”
There’s no denying that Tiktok has become a normal part of people’s, especially the younger generation’s lives.
Some people, however, don’t like hearing an automated voiceover in people’s videos. “Either narrate it yourself, put captions, or let the video speak for itself. That same d**n robot voice over and over drives me nuts.”
2. So Much Online Content
There are people baffled by the fact that the younger generation has so much time to produce tons of online content.
Some say it could be a hobby or it could be their job. “Digital art is a way of expression.”
There are also others that say that making content, whether or not they get a lot of views, is more about the feeling they get in the process of making their content. “It’s more about getting the ideas out of my head rather than the final result.”
3. “Filming Every Little Thing”
Some older folks said that it’s sad that people who record everything don’t live in the moment.
It’s also a danger to those people and the people around them when they are “not present” recording videos instead of focusing on stuff like driving.

4. Dancing In the Middle of Everywhere
Dancing is harmless enough. But the general public start to have a problem when the dancers do it in the middle of Home Depot. They think they are a “public nuisance” just begging for attention as if the world revolves around them.
One user said growing up in the pre-Internet era, teenagers back then also did a lot of stupid stuff in public too. The difference is recording it wasn’t as prevalent as it is now.
5. ASMR
Hundreds of thousands of videos of people sharing the sound of eating seem to annoy many people. Scientists call this misophonia ².
To others the crunching, chewing, slurping, and swallowing are satisfying to listen to, while some feel “sensory overload.”
6. The Broccoli/Ramen Haircut
It’s a nice time for boys who have curly hair because it seems to be the trend these days.
A lot of the young generation sport a mop of curly hair on top of their heads with shaved sides. Others, however, seem to associate this style with f***boys.
7. Finding Friendships, Validation, and Approval Online
Social media helped a lot of people make “friends” with numerous people online. And many younger generations produce content to gain more followers for fame, fortune, or both.
But making connections isn’t exclusive to the newer generation. “Haven’t people, especially teens and young people, always sought friendship, validation, and approval? The internet is just the medium they have access to these days.”
8. Prank Videos
Who doesn’t love a good prank? Apparently, a lot of people these days.
Well, mostly if the pranks only cause stress and harm, and not fun and laughter like they’re supposed to. “The main reason I don’t like prank videos is because consent is removed from the person getting pranked, especially when the prank is harmful or mean to the victim.”
The Older & Younger Generations
Whenever a new generation of youngsters starts doing whatever their peers do, the older generations always seem to have something to say about it.
But hey, those are their opinions. And one day, a new generation will emerge along with whatever confusing things they’d come up with, and the cycle continues.
